She's been teaching for 22 years, and has a piano performance degree from the University of North Carolina at Greeensboro, with a
minor in voice.
She teaches all levels from beginner up to college level and all ages from about 4 years old up.
It's 4 30 minute lessons a month with 20 minutes on the piano and 10 minutes on the computer.
she uses primarily the Alfred method
books, but also uses fun books from other methods.
there are 2 recitals a year, one in December and one in May, and there are
other RPTA events to make
use of. For voice students start with exercises working on breathing, tone and other skills, and work
songs agreed on for each person.

Susan's teaching philosophy is that music should be learned by everyone. It's up to the student how far
they take the lessons but there is so much to learn about the way we learn things and it's good applied math. There are other
benefits as well. People who learn music tend to be "smarter". I put that in quotes because I think it's just because
they've learned so much about the way they learn, they are able to take what they learn, and apply it to other things they want to
learn. They are therefore able to learn more quickly and grasp concepts more easily. It is also because it's fun that keeps the music
